West Nine were appointed directly by the client to undertake a full refurbishment and extensive structural reconfiguration of the apartment.
The client wanted to transform the layout to create a more fluid and contemporary arrangement of space, while respecting the architectural character of the building and its garden setting.
The project involved significant structural alterations which required detailed sequencing, technical coordination and close liaison with adjoining owners and surveyors. With neighbouring residences occupied above and adjacent throughout the works, careful management, considerate site practices and clear communication were essential during the 12-month construction programme.
A custom-designed bar formed a focal point within the principal entertaining space, while large openings to garden level strengthened the connection between the interior and the beautifully maintained private garden beyond.
One interior designs combined refined craftsmanship with carefully curated materials. Bespoke joinery was integrated throughout, complemented by natural stone supplied by Lapicida, architectural lighting by Orluna, and a fully integrated Control4 system.
Delivered on programme, the completed residence balances structural ambition with material elegance. The project was subsequently nominated for the Design et al International Design & Architecture Awards, recognising the collaborative achievement of the wider design team and the exceptional quality of the finished home.
